Lakeshia Gilbert, LCPC

For over twelve years I have worked in a variety of areas as a mental health practitioner. I worked with students and their families providing individual, family and group counseling and support for seven years before leaving the school system. My departure from the school system

allowed me to provide counseling services within the community as part of an in-home mobile program, outpatient programs and emergency room and crisis centers while serving children, adolescents, adults and seniors.

I consider it a privilege to align with clients as they navigate the journey to improve their mental health and wellness. Most importantly, I believe in identifying and utilizing the unique strengths and experiences that every client possesses to support your goals and encourage your progress. To that end, my goal in our collaboration is to help you explore the connections between your experiences, thoughts, and emotions, identify and embrace strengths, establish and increase the supports that may be needed and gain a greater appreciation for your view of self. As a Christian, my relationship with the Lord is an important part of my identity and it is natural for me to view and blend that way of thought and operation into the area of mental health and counseling. The qualities of grace, forgiveness, love, and compassion that were taught and displayed by our Savior are an important and necessary part of the counseling relationship. To that end, I am honored to counsel from a Christian perspective of Biblical truth when requested. I use a combination of Christian counseling, mindfulness, person-centered, solution-focused, cognitive behavioral, and psychoeducation techniques to fit the needs of my clients. The decision to ask for and accept help with mental health issues can be intimidating and scary. Congratulations that you have stepped out on courage and faith! Rest assured that you can expect an environment that is calm, safe and waiting for you!

2 Timothy 1:7
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

Jeremiah 29:11
β€œFor I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
